So, so far this year we've hit 2 races, Cascade Quest and The Darby Dog Derby. I just ran a 6 dog at Darby, I didn't place well but my dogs ran well and I had trouble free runs. Mom ran the 8 dog and also had a great race. Next we headed up to Leavensworth Washington to run the Cascade Quest a 6 dog 75 mile 3 day stage race. There were 10 people entered and I placed 6th and mom placed 7th. It was a very tough race but we had fun and will return next year. Here are some photos from this ...Read Full Post »

It certainly have been an eventful season, it didn't go quite the way I was expecting but I had fun anyways. I started out with the Darby dog derby where I came in last at 6 place, I made some mistakes and learned my lesson and expect to do better next year. Then came along the Eagle cap where my brother Garrett borowed 2 of my dogs to run the 100 mile while I ran the 30 mile and finished 2 place out of 4. Then the race to the Sky where I had to scrahc after dropping 2 and then having 3 other...Read Full Post »

So, wow, so much has happened since my last entry I don't know where to start! We started training via bikejouring in late October and as the temperatures dropped we began using the cart and got up to 6 miles by the time snow arived. As of our first signifigant snowfall of 5 inches I ran my pack six miles on with the tobogan breaking trail. I am also pleased to say that Flannigan has become one of my main leaders! As we have began more intense training and we are moving up in mileage we have ...Read Full Post »

So, I have now concluded that it is utterly impossible to walk 7 husky puppies boiling over with energy and just dieing to chew on anything they can get their sharp little teath on, without getting absolutly filthy. They are growing fast and I'm frantically trying to find 4 of them homes.
So my kennel is growing again for I just got an email from Tabby Berge confirming my new dog Barack has been picked up by a friend and should arive in a couple of days. While ...Read Full Post »

Rain, rain, rain and more rain, so as you could probably guess the dogyard is a mess! Mud everywhere! Cobalt doesn't seem to mind it that much, somehow he always manages to get himself covered in mud. Fiona on the other hand has been in her house a lot lately, she doesn't seem to be a fan of Idaho's un-frozen variety of moisture.
Pace's Puppies are growing fast and getting fiestier. They will be five weeks on the 4th. Pace seems to be getting tired of them and her...

We did our second run today, it went very well until for Arco dragged the team off the trail into a small pond. It was a bit warm for a run for it was 53 degrees, but we stopped frequently to water them. I can't beleive I used to hate winter and wish it was shorter, now I can't wait for it to get back!
Keri, thank you so much for Flan and Fiona, I want you to know Fiona minded near perfect today!

I did a training run with the cart today..........it was AWESOME! Flannigan ran like a pro, he is one of the most focussed dogs I have ever seen, and he has the fastest trot of any of my dogs. I wish I could of ran Pace, but her puppies are still to young to leave for that long. The team consisted of Fiona and Arco in lead and Flannigan and Cobalt in wheel. Everyone pulled 100% of the time and Fiona took comands well. We only did a three mile run do to bad w...Read Full Post »

We did our first dryland run this morning, with the Veryberry cart. It was a bit warm being 48 degrees. We traveled on the Weiser River Trail, a 50+ mile trail that runs by our property(it was formerly a railroad). Because of limited time and the fact that it was warming up fast we only ran 4 of Garretts dogs 2 miles. He used Zorra, Hadrian, Uric and Mango. The Veryberry is awsome! I can't wait to train with it this fall. Mom and I are running my team tomorrow morning early before it gets war...Read Full Post »
